He Intercedes For Us

Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
(Hebrews 7.25)

Meditation

I, like everyone else, have sinned. Much of my adult life was spent in open rebellion against God. My sins were worse than the sins of some people and not as bad as others. The punishment for any sin is death. In other words, complete separation from God forever. When I finally submitted to God, by giving my life to Jesus, I was given a pardon from having to bear the punishment of eternity in hell. I could not have earned absolution from my sins, nor do I deserve it. There was nothing I could do to warrant his mercy and grace. It does matter to him what I did, my sins are forgiven and forgotten by the Father.
There is nothing else I can do to be saved. I cannot turn myself around and become good enough to stand in the presence of God. I cannot wash myself enough to clean off the filth of my iniquities. No matter how righteous I try to become on my own, I will fall far too short to gain paradise, without the cleansing blood of Jesus. He doesn’t require me to become perfect before I can be saved. I was a total mess when Jesus saved me. As I rose from my baptism, Jesus gave me a new heart and a desire to serve others. He wants to do the same thing he did for me for everyone.
When we pass from this life to the next, Satan will contend for our souls, calling us sinners before the Father. However, Jesus is alive and with his Father, intervening on our behalf, calling us his own possession. If we want Jesus to stand before the Father after we die, we must accept the gift of salvation while we’re still alive here on earth. If we should die without the cleansing blood of Jesus, it will be too late, and our fate will be sealed. Jesus wants to save everyone from the Lake of Fire, but we have to accept his lordship of our lives.
Jesus took the blame for every sin I would ever commit upon his shoulders, and he died on the cross for me. The price for my salvation was paid for in full by the blood of Christ. He took my penalty so I wouldn’t have to. I rose from the cleansing waters of baptism as a new creation. I’m not a perfect person, I still sin, but now I have Christ’s righteousness to fall back on. On Judgment Day, I will stand before the Father justified by what Jesus did on the cross. The Father will not see me as a sinner, he will see me in the likeness of his Son.

Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father, you have given us plenty of reasons to have confidence in you. Everything you promise, you always deliver because you are trustworthy and true. Throughout the millennial times of the old covenant, you promised a Messiah. You delivered up Jesus on the cross. It was your plan from the foundation of time. Because Jesus was without sin and his blood was shed as the atoning sacrifice for our sin, he is able to redeem us from the pits of hell. We thank you for rescuing us from the burning Lake of Fire, where we would have gone without the cleansing blood of Jesus. His is the only name we can call on to be saved. Muhammed cannot save us, he’s still dead. Buddha cannot save us, he’s also still dead. Because Jesus is fully a man, he could shed his blood to pay the price for our sins. Because Jesus is fully God, he rose from the dead and sits at the Father’s right hand. He intercedes on our behalf against Satan who accuses us of our iniquities. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
