Jesus Is Coming

Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all peoples on earth will mourn over him. So, it is to be! Amen.
(Revelation 1:7)

Meditation

Can you imagine what it would be like to be standing on a street corner and looking up to see Jesus? I am sure there will be some believers present, who came to Christ after the rapture removed the Church from the world. These people, both believers and unbelievers, will have survived the most horrific time of God’s Wrath, the world has ever seen. What a great and glorious day this will be, but there won’t be any unbelievers celebrating. For them it will be an awful day because they will realize that the Messiah, they refused to believe in, is real. They will understand their mistake in rejecting the only savior who could have rescued them from this final battle between good and evil. They will mourn because they will understand Jesus wanted them to repent of their rebellion and turn to him all along.
Even though I’d heard of the 2nd coming of Jesus, I never understood just what was really going to happen. I came to realize quite quickly, after I was saved, why it’s so important. He’s not going to be born as a helpless baby again and laid in a manger like he was before. When he comes this time, no one will have to wonder if he’s come, because every eye will see him. He’s not coming to give sermons, heal the sick, or give sight to the blind. No, he’s coming to put an end to the rebellion of the human heart. The vast majority of the people alive on that day will not know him. In fact, they will be cursing God right up until the moment Jesus is revealed in the clouds. They are the ones who will be wailing.
Jesus loves and died for the most vile sinner, just as he loves and died for me. He who had no sin took our sins upon himself so we could live. He doesn’t want anyone to go to hell, but he is a just God. He has given us the freedom to choose Jesus or not. If we choose wrong, the consequences are eternal. When anyone rejects the offer of salvation from Jesus, he or she has chosen hell over heaven. The unsaved will finally comprehend what real love is, causing them to mourn for their lost chance to know Jesus. Why not avoid all of that anguish and turn to Jesus today? Look for a Bible teaching church and go find out how much Jesus loves you and what he expects from you.

Daily Prayer

Father God we worship and praise your name because there is no one greater in all creation. You lovingly sent your Son, Jesus, to rescue humanity from the everlasting fires of hell. Not because we are such good people, but because we are not. When Jesus comes again, Father, he will not be coming to serve mankind as before. He will be coming to deliver your wrath to this wicked world. However, as wicked and lost as we are, Lord, we know you still love us and want us all to turn to Jesus and be saved. We pray for all whose hearts are still hardened in rebellion. They will mourn their refusal to submit to your will for their lives when they see Jesus coming in the clouds. They will finally understand the awesome power and majesty they have rejected. We ask your Spirit to fill our hearts with a love for the lost and a passion to share the gospel with them. There is power in the name of Jesus to save. It’s in his name, we pray. Amen!
