Without Excuse

since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
(Romans 1:19-20)

Meditation

I used to take walks in the hills and trails of the state parks near my home. I would marvel at the beauty of the landscape and wonder how it all came to be. Of course, in school I had been taught that we evolved from apes and the universe was infinite and eternal. I believed what I had been taught. The Big Bang Theory was around but not being taught in public schools yet. Because their explanation didn’t require a god, it was a good fit for me. Since I didn’t believe in a miraculous special creation, I gave all the credit to chance; a happy accident.
As a young boy I had been exposed to the God of the Bible and heard the simplistic sounding Genesis story. Even though I thought that account was childish and unsophisticated, the seed had been planted. Down deep in my core, I knew there had to be another interpretation of how everything came into existence. Nothing of the secular account made any sense to me. I realized I didn’t have enough faith to believe in evolution. Even before I gave my life to Jesus, I stopped believing in the natural account of creation. I knew there had to be a better explanation. I began to believe in a designer without actually believing in God or the Genesis account.
Everything became clear once I was saved. I knew I could never say that I didn’t know God was real. That was just my refusal to submit myself to him. No one can say there is no God because they cannot see him. Everything around us, from the splendor of the stars and galaxies in outer space, to the miracle of birth, is proof of his existence. Even though Jesus doesn’t walk with us physically, his majesty surrounds us. His miracles abound in his spiritual healing of the most ardent of atheists, of whom I was one. Today, due to the false teachings of secular science, the lure of all that is unrighteous and our own rebellious nature, some have turned their backs on the simple truth of God and his creation. Even some professing Christians claim to believe in evolution.
Someday we are all going to be standing in judgment before the creator of all things. If we have believed the lies of evolutionary dogma and submitted ourselves to the wickedness we find surrounding us, our fate is sealed. If we have willfully declared we do not need God to lead us, we will have no excuse. Everything from the mightiest star in the heavens to the tiniest microbe floating on a microscope slide declares the splendor of our God. So, our fate rests in our hands. God does not wish for anyone to go to hell. We are the ones who choose that fate.

Prayer Time

Dear Lord, you are mighty and powerful in ways we cannot even imagine. Who else but you could form the universe with the breath of your mouth? Who else but you can hold it all together with just a thought? You created all things and when we look at your handiwork, we are fools to say everything is here by chance. Teach us how to speak the truth of creation to our children and grandchildren, who are taught the lies of evolution. Don’t let us think they will figure it out for themselves. We ask you to soften the hearts of our leadership, who force feed the religion of atheism on our children by kicking you out of our schools. Help them to cast aside their rebelliousness and submit themselves to you. Continue to show us that the foundations of our faith rest all the way back to those six days you spent creating everything we can see and can’t see. It’s in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
