The Universe Was Created

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

The atheist/secularist worldview says, ‘in the beginning there was nothing that for no reason became something very, very tiny. That very tiny thing, called a singularity, for no apparent reason became agitated by nothing. Then, being agitated, the singularity exploded. While expanding, it created the whole universe and everything in it…by accident.’ That’s the Big Bang Theory in a nutshell, well, my description of it anyway. If that’s not a fanatical belief system, I don’t know what is. I know I don’t have enough faith to believe in that, or its equally fantastical Theory of Evolution. Neither theory has any chance of ever being proven, but that doesn’t matter to its adherents. If you’re a scientist and choose to voice an opinion against their pet theories, they will strive to destroy you and your whole life.

For most of my adult life I tried to believe in the Theory of Evolution. I was never completely sold on the idea, but it was the only game in town for someone in rebellion against God, like I was. When I was in my early thirties, I decided that evolution was not a valid theory anymore. However, instead of turning to the real Creator, I decided that this planet was seeded by aliens. My rejection of evolution forced me to believe more and more fanciful and ever-changing myths. The trouble with any secular idea is, it just plays kick the can down the road about where it all started. How did the first of everything come into existence? Believing God created everything would have required me to submit to him, and that is what I was unwilling to do.

There is an abundance of reasons to believe the truth of scripture. All I have to do is take a look at the wonders all around me. The plain and simple truth is God spoke and the universe came into existence. I can only wonder at the power and majesty of a being that can say a few words and create everything we can see and can’t see. That’s how nothing became something. What a marvelous and fearful thought. The ever-changing human theories can’t stand up to their own science. Every time their ideas run into contrary evidence, they simple change the theory. With an all-powerful Creator, we can just read the Bible and know how and when we got here!

Daily Prayer

Father God you are the one and only true God, master of the universe you created. With the breath of your mouth you spoke the universe into existence. You didn’t do it over millions or billions of years, as some who willingly compromise your inspired Word, will do. You did not use evolution to create mankind or any other species. We thank you for your words in scripture that beautifully describe just how you created the universe. Those six days are a masterful demonstration of your might and power. We are thankful to be on the side of such a fearful God. We pray for those who have fallen prey to Satan’s lie called evolution. Give us the words to make them see the error of following a man created theory rather than you Word that you breathed out. Help us to always love them like Jesus does. It’s in his name, we pray. Amen!
