We Shall Be Changed
Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but
we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable,
and we shall be changed.
(1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
Meditation
I
pray that we are the generation that will see the fulfillment of this prophecy.
Why would I say that? Do I hate my life, my family, and everything else that
most people hold dear? No, I don’t hate any of those things. I am happier
today, as a God-fearing, follower of Jesus Christ, than I have ever been
before. What I do hate is the corruption and the filth that this world has
fallen into. Just in my lifetime, this county, America, has gone from a
God-fearing nation to a God-blaspheming nation. What has, for centuries, been
called evil by the scriptures, is now called good by society. The things I see
happening in the world today make me long to be brought into Christ’s presence.
The
caution for all of us here is to be ready, to be looking up and waiting for
Jesus to call us. Don’t just be a fan of Jesus, sitting on the sidelines and
cheering everything that is going on for the work of the Kingdom. You must be
followers, workers in the field, players in the game, persons of prayer, working
with other followers to bring the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the lost.
We cannot rest on our past good deeds and think we have done enough. There will
never be a time when we’ve completed our tasks, unless we’ve been called home,
or Christ has returned. There are still billions of people who do not know the
Lord and our time is short. We don’t have to become missionaries in some far-off
foreign country. We live in the midst of a mission field ready for the seed of
the Word of God.
There is a lot of discussion among believers about
when this prophecy will take place. Some believe it will take place before the
Tribulation period when God’s wrath will descend upon the earth. Some argue it will happen in the middle of the seven year period of God's judgment. Others believe
it cannot occur until the Lord’s Second Coming. The truth is, it doesn’t
matter. What matters is, we are ready. Since we don't know when it will happen, we have to be sure to be walking a righteous path every day of our lives. We could be walking down the street, or driving a car, sitting in
a classroom, or even in church, and that trumpet blast will sound. There will be no time to get
right with God then. If we are saved, we will be instantly changed and sailing
up through the clouds to meet Jesus in the air! So be ready every day to hear
that trumpet. Hallelujah!
Prayer Time
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thank you, Lord, for sharing your mysteries with us. We are so insignificant, we shouldn’t matter to you, but we are created in your image, which makes all of mankind of the highest importance to you. You have told us, through the words of scriptures, of your love for us and what your plan for mankind is. You have used the prophets of old to not only warn us if we departed from your will, but the joy that awaits us if we remain in your righteousness. We yearn for this day, Lord, and we know it will only come about in your perfect timing. Help us to always be looking up, anticipating your return. Please, Holy Spirit, keep us on the narrow path and ready for this great day. Father forgive us when we don’t live up to Jesus’ example in our dealings with others. Help us to show his love to everyone, including those who persecute us. Never let us be the reason someone rejects the message of the gospel. It’s in his name, we pray. Amen!
