Rely On The Spirit

Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
(Romans 8:26)

Meditation

Jesus ascended into heaven, so the Holy Spirit could come to comfort us. Without the Holy Spirit, we stumble and fall. If we ignore his subtle warnings, we’re always spinning our wheels but not getting where we should go. We are weak and need the Spirit must be our connection to the Father in heaven. The Spirit is with us in times of our greatest happiness and deepest sorrow. In times of distress, when there are many possible ways we can go, he steers us to the righteous path. If we listen, he will guide us in all our important decisions. He will always be with us.
Have you ever needed something but didn’t know how to approach God? There are times in everyone’s lives, when you need something so important, so life changing in its scope, you find it impossible to put coherent words together. It’s more likely there is something you need, and you don’t have a clue as to what it is. Or, have you ever had someone come to mind and you thought you should pray for them but didn’t know what they might need or what to pray for? How do you pray for God’s provision in those instances?
There have been many times in my life when the Holy Spirit has helped me in my prayers. He even speaks the words for me, when I can’t find a way. I can think of a time when a family member was diagnosed with cancer. You might say, it should be easy to pray in instances like that, but I was in such distress, I couldn’t say anything. I was on the floor, on my face, crying out to God. I don’t remember saying very much in my own words, but I was there for a long time, crying out to God. He heard my prayer and the groanings of the Spirit because she is cancer free.
When you are baptized into the Holy Spirit, he indwells your heart. He is your helper and he will speak your needs to the Father when you can’t. How incredible is that? The creator of heaven and earth wants to provide for your needs so much that he will even utter the words for you. You serve and amazingly good God but at the same time he serves you. He sent his Son to die on the cross to save you from your sins. He has also given you his Spirit to be your helper when you can’t verbalize what you need.

Prayer Time

Heavenly Father, you give us life and set us free to either choose your path that leads to paradise or our own that leads to destruction. Thank you for Jesus, who shines his glorious light upon our path, so we don’t have to walk in darkness. Thank you also for your Holy Spirit, who indwells our hearts and guides us every day. It’s you, Lord, who knows our every need, even when we don’t. You know even though we might not have any idea what our needs are. In times of deep need, the indwelling Spirit will speak for us when we can’t find the words to adequately express our thoughts. We are so thankful, when words and coherent thoughts escape us, your Spirit will stand in the gap and make our needs apparent. We are in awe of a God who loves us so much, a part of his godhead lives within us. The people who worship the false gods, created by the mind and hands of man, cannot make that claim. It’s in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
