Evil Is Evil, Good Is Good

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!

Meditation

In these last days, we live in a society that has lost its way. The needle of our moral compass spins until it stops at a spot where the loudest group says is good. For most of the first two hundred years of our nation, the idea of killing a baby in the womb was abhorrent. However, that all changed when the Supreme Court decided abortion was a right the women of America needed. Up until about fifty years ago, an unmarried couple living together was frowned upon. It used to be called ‘living in sin’ but today it’s as common as having a cell phone in our pocket or television in our living room. Not only are these things, and too many more to list, said to be good but celebrated as necessary for a healthy society.

Today, those who are wise in their own minds call the scriptures foolish, old-fashioned, and out of touch. They consider themselves to be smarter than the One who created them. They shrewdly plot ways to undermine anyone’s belief in God. They have made the teaching of evolution the law of the land. Nothing else can be taught or the weight of the government will come down. About a dozen or so years ago, the entertainment industry started pushing programming and movies that push alternative lifestyles. Their goal was to make them look mainstream, and they have succeeded. Political correctness (PC) has taken over everything from whatever you say to the judgments coming from our courts. We all must pray for our nation’s near-term future.

There is a day of reckoning coming, and the people who have not changed their ways, repented of their sins, and turned to Jesus, will suffer the consequences. We cannot sit idly by as lost souls are continuously deceived by the demonic influences of this world. We must show them a way of life that doesn’t require them to conform to every whim of societal change. God’s ways are true, and they are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. As followers of Christ, we are called to stand up for the truth of the gospel. We are called to come out of the darkness and into the light, bringing as many with us as we can.

Prayer Time

Holy Father hallowed be your name. You are the divine master and creator of the universe. There is no other being, in all of creation, that equals your power and might. As you have predicted in your Word, our world is full of evil. There are many who would like everyone to believe that the evil they purvey is really good. Some who call themselves Christian have given public support to abortion providers, saying they are good for our society. We pray, Lord, they will be restored to right and godly thinking. Lord we also pray for those people who call our love for them, and our warnings of their sinful lifestyles, to be evil. It’s a terrible hard thing to watch as people will turn good and evil upside down. Especially when it involves someone we love and care about, and they refuse to listen to us. Give us the special words they need to hear to change their ways. Please continue to have mercy on us when we inevitably fail to live up to your standards. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
