Walk With Jesus

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
(Colossians 2:6-7)

Meditation

Jesus didn’t die on the cross to save us because we were such good people. Not one of us has done anything to deserve salvation. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite. We only deserve the scorn and condemnation from the Almighty Creator of the universe. Now that we have accepted that undeserved gift of salvation, we must do our best to follow Christ. Showing his love to everyone we encounter, is how we walk in him. Jesus is the cornerstone our faith is built on. If the extent of our walk with Christ is a TV preacher on Sunday morning, how can we expect to somehow have a good foundation for our faith? A great deal more is required to build on your faith than just watching a few minutes of religious programming.
While it’s true that church attendance is not required for salvation, it is necessary for a strong faith, rooted in sound doctrine. When we meet regularly with our brothers and sisters of the faith, taking instruction from our elders, we encourage and build each other up. A TV preacher might preach the best sermon ever, but just to hear the Word isn’t enough if you’re not doing what it says. We get encouragement by spending time with like-minded believers. When we come together as a Church, we become a family, with roots all the way back to Abraham. Do not miss out on the opportunity for spiritual growth offered by a good Bible preaching church, filled with warm, God-fearing brothers and sisters.
We must take the time to read our Bible every day. As we do that, questions will inevitably arise. While we search for the answers, asking more mature believers, reading Bible commentaries, we begin to set our roots deeper in Christ Jesus. Sometimes it happens quickly, other times it takes months, even years to find the answers to questions. There are things we may never understand in this lifetime, but it’s a surety we will in the next. It’s the blood of Jesus that washes away our sins. It’s his sacrifice that frees us from bondage. It’s God who deserves our eternal gratitude expressed daily in thanksgiving through Christ Jesus. As you go through your day, remember to be thankful.

Prayer Time

Father, the whole universe is filled with your love and graciousness. Thank you for the peace of mind we can have in knowing your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for the words of scripture that give us boldness to share your message of love. Father, as we read the words of your love for us, burn them into our hearts that we may be molded into the image of Jesus. Help us to always be entrenched in service to you and our fellow man. As we serve you, strengthen us to resist the devil and all he offers. If we rely on you every day, our faith will always be strong enough that those devils will flee from us because Jesus is with us. Remind us to always be abounding in thanksgiving for all you have done and will do for us. Jesus is the Lord of our lives and we always want to be his light in the darkness for the unsaved world around us. It’s in his precious and holy name, we pray. Amen!
