Good vs Evil

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
(3 John 1:11)

Meditation

We have been given the freedom to choose to do either good or evil. We do not, however, decide what is good and what is evil. It’s not left up to a committee, or a show of hands, not even the majority of the population of the world can decide. Today, secularists wants us to think that right and wrong, good and evil, are to be determined by each individual or society in general. In other words, good and evil are defined by the whims of the culture. However, if a culture believes that an unborn baby has no right to live, it’s perfectly alright, even good, to kill that baby. If it was evil fifty, a hundred, or a thousand years ago, it’s still evil today, and will be forever. God decides what’s good and what’s evil, not society. He’s never changes his mind about that and he never will.
There are those today who call evil good and good evil. They really do know the difference; they’re not confused. They don’t want to give up their sinful lifestyles, therefore, they try to switch things up and confuse the issue with a blizzard of rhetoric. Don’t be swayed by their evil logic. There are no gray areas when it comes to the difference between good and evil. There are preachers who’ll tell you the times have changed, and you should be willing to accept societies’ new normal to be relevant. Flee from those churches so you’re not led astray. There are so-called churches that never preach about the consequences of evil and sin. There are some preachers who, having a spirit of antichrist, will tell us that if you don’t accept aberrant behavior, you are the evil ones. They are not from God.
Of course, there are wolves among the sheep. Just because a person goes to church doesn’t make them a follower of Jesus Christ. Just because someone calls themselves Pastor, does not mean they preach the truth. Check their teachings against the scriptures to know if it’s true. If you know of a person in your church who is divisive, always tearing people down, then they do not know God. If someone is very righteous on Sunday but acts like a drunken sailor the rest of the week, then they do not know God. We should help them see the error of their ways. If they will not change their ways, show them the door. When people see us outside the church, there should be no doubt in their minds that we are Christians. In other words, whether we feel like it or not, we continuously must do good deeds for whomever we can.

Prayer Time

Father God, when we consider your magnificence, we can appreciate how small and insignificant we are. Yet, you still love us in ways we don’t fully comprehend. How can we possibly thank you enough for what you’ve done for us? Not only do you give us life for starters but, knowing we’d need a Savior from the foundations of time, you give us Jesus. You know our society is rotten to the core. There is very little of redeeming value in what’s going on in the world today. We’re killing millions of unborn babies every year for the sake of choice and calling it good. How did we become so unfeeling? How much more heartless will we become before you return to pour out your wrath on this evil world? We beg you, Lord, to change the hearts and minds of those who don’t know you yet. Give us the ability to scatter the seeds of your truth to the unbelievers around us. Help us to listen for the guidance of the Holy Spirit when we encounter someone who needs to hear of your love. Never let us compromise in matters of good and evil. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
