Know He Is God

Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
(Psalm 46:10)

Believe me, I know that he is God! He’s healed me of an addiction to pain medication. He did it in days, instead of weeks, and with only a few symptoms of withdrawal, instead of a dozen or more. He’s blessed me in ways I can't even begin to count. However, when I’m stressed it’s very easy for me to momentarily forget he’s God. Then, I'll try to fix things myself, and that hardly ever works out. It sometimes looks like it’s going to manage on my own, then things start falling apart. That’s when I remember who’s really in charge. That’s when I bow to the master of the universe. That’s when I become silent and listen for his Spirit to speak.
You may not like the implication, but if you are reading this and you are not saved, you are one of the heathen the verse is talking about. I know, in our culture today, heathen refers to uneducated savages. That's exactly what it means in this passage too. If you have rejected the Word of God out of ignorance of what the Word means, you are an uneducated savage, a heathen. I am here to exalt the one true God of heaven and earth to you. That means I am to lift him up, to shout his praises, and to magnify him above all else. There is no place on earth where he is not God. He is the God of the Jews, of course, but he is also the God of the Gentiles. The rest of us are the Gentiles. That’s every race, creed and people group in the world who are not Jewish. It doesn’t matter what other god(s) you worship, the God of Heaven is your real Master. He is the God of all.
He is omnipotent! That means he’s all-powerful. Satan and his demon horde are created beings and cannot hold a candle to God. He is omniscient! That means he knows everything. That’s every one of our thoughts and everything we do. We cannot hide anything from him, not even our deepest thoughts. He is omnipresent! That means he exists in all places and in all times at the same time. You could say he is every-where and every-when. There is none greater than him. There is none even close to him.
Right now, the majority of the people of earth have rejected his Lordship. However, the day is quickly coming when every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that he is Lord. If you are forced to do that, it will be too late for you, and your eternal punishment awaits you in hell. Don’t let that happen. Repent and be baptized now for the forgiveness of your sins. Jesus is before you with his arms wide open. He wants to save you and give you the reward of heaven. Don’t be foolish and turn him down.

Heavenly Father we need you for every breath we take. You hold sway over our very existence. Sometimes, we forget you are sovereign over all of creation, which includes our little corner of the world. We scurry from one thing to another thinking we are in control, even though we know we are not. Help us to stop dashing about, trying to solve our problems on our own, in our own strength. Quiet our fearful hearts and protect us from the evil that confronts us. We glorify you in all things because you are hold all things together. Give us the voice to proclaim your love to a world that doesn’t know what real sacrificial love is. None of the false deities that people call on took on flesh and sacrificed themselves to save them. Then you rose from the dead to prove you have the power over death. You are the one and only God that lives. You have power over our next heartbeat, unlike the gods of men who have no power. All other gods are created in the minds of men, then formed and crafted by their hands. Thank you, Lord, for all you do for us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
