You Can Trust In His Love

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
(Psalm 13:5)

Is it possible for me to thank God enough for saving my soul from eternal punishment? I don’t think so, in fact, I know I won’t be able to in this lifetime. If I think about where I was going to spend eternity before I came to the cross and where I’m going to spend it now, there’s no comparison. If I compare my life back then to my life now, the difference is night and day. I am so much happier now, more fulfilled, and blessed beyond my wildest dreams. I have a purpose now to share Christ’s unwavering love with everyone.
My old life was filled with anxiety, waiting for the next hammer to drop. I just knew some calamity was about to fall on me, and my life as I knew it would be changed forever. Everything that happened, good or bad, I chalked up to luck and mine was never very good. I tried to show a calm exterior to any onlooker, but inside I knew fate had it in for me. That’s where the pot and alcohol came in. It was a way to keep my unease at a minimum. After a while, I convinced myself that I was having a good time. In reality I was too numb to feel anxious.
Now, I have stopped relying on mind-numbing substances by placing my trust in the Master of the universe. I know hardships will still come my way, but I don’t have to fear anything anymore. I leave everything up to him because he holds my future. I know my soul is in good hands because everything I’ve ever done wrong has been forgiven. I have been washed clean. I rejoice every day that I’m given another chance to do the will of God. When this lifetime is over, I will spend eternity praising him in heaven.
There’s either heaven or hell and I am the one who chooses which direction I go, and so do you. Even though Jesus has already paid the price for your admittance to heaven, you first have to submit to him in repentance. From then on, you don’t have to merely hope you’ll go to heaven when you die, you can trust in his promise of the resurrection. You can also trust that he will supply all your daily needs. Every day, I rejoice with praises to my king and thank him for my salvation. You can have that same joy if you’ll give your heart to Jesus. Hallelujah!

Father God you are perfect and holy in every way, and we have no hope to ever measure up to your holiness. You keep no record of our sins once we repent of our sins and turn to Jesus. In fact, the slate is wiped clean of all past sins, to be remembered by you no longer. We don’t have to fear an unknown future because you are there to guard our eternal souls. Father that is what pure love is, and you give it freely. Your love never fails, and we have nothing to worry about when it comes to our basic needs. You have given us every reason to rejoice because you love us. In our imperfection, we are made perfect by the love of the Father. In our unrighteousness, we are made righteous by the blood of Jesus. In our weakness, we are made strong because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord, for your saving grace. Please continue to have mercy on us when we fall back into wickedness. We rejoice in the warmth of your love, knowing our eternity is secure in you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
