No Other Name

Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Philippians 2:9-11)

Some people believe the lie that a loving God would never send anyone to hell. They are deceived by their own desire to remain in their sin. The alternative is to repent and give up everything in their lives that is unholy and displeasing to God. I know when I was faced with that reality, I thought I could live with one foot in both worlds. The world where I don’t have to eliminate any sinful behavior in my life and the world where I go to church every Sunday. Fortunately, God showed me, through scriptures and good preaching, church attendance does not equate with salvation.
There are billions of people on the earth today who have never heard of or who do not believe in the God of heaven and earth. Some of them believe in other gods or they believe in a corrupted version of Jesus Christ. The vast majority of humanity claims to have no god at all. What they don’t realize is, their god is something like money, their jobs, or their possessions. In essence, they are their own god because everything they chase after is used to give them pleasure. They may not bend their knee and worship their god, but those things are their gods, just the same.
The consequence for having the wrong god are dreadful and eternal. If you die without giving your life to Jesus, then a day is coming when you will be on your knees weeping uncontrollably. It will be then you realize that your life was spent wastefully chasing after false gods and sinful pleasures. You will have to confess that God is the sovereign of the universe. You will know that heaven and hell are real, and you refused your only way of avoiding that place of torment and punishment. However, your greatest sorrow will come from finally understanding Jesus Christ is Lord, and why he was willing to die for you.
I hope anyone reading this will give up their selfish pride and realize what Jesus did for them before it’s too late. He loves each of us so much he willingly went to the cross to pay the price for our sins. Jesus wants everyone to be with him in heaven for all eternity. I would rather live my life worshiping and believing in Jesus Christ, and die to find out he didn’t exist, than to not believe in him, and die to find out he does. If I die and he doesn’t exist, all I done is live an unselfish life. If I die and he does exist, as I know he does, I will reap the reward of heaven and eternity with my Lord and my God.

Heavenly Father, you are the master of the universe. You gave your Christ the name that supersedes all names. There is no earthly king, no president or prime minister, no supreme leader or potentate, no shaman or prophet, whose name is above the name of Jesus. Our devotion and worship belongs to the one who sacrificed himself to save us, even though we were your enemy. Thank you for forgiving our past rebellion and showing us the truth and power of the gospel of Christ. We don’t put our trust in human leaders, who are only interested in furthering their own interests. We don’t put our trust is soothsayers or false prophets, who try to lead us astray. We don’t put our trust in our own strength, which is only momentary at best. We choose to bow to Jesus now, in this lifetime, because of the sacrifice he made for us. We confess to the world that he is the Lord of our lives and through him, Father, we will bring glory to you. It’s in the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen!
