Are You Living For Christ
For me, to live is Christ and to
die is gain.
(Philippians 1:21)
I
have been scolded by people who say this is proof I belong to a death cult.
However, it’s quite the opposite. I belong to life while clinging to Jesus
Christ. I love being alive, especially right now, in what I consider to be the
Last Days before Jesus returns. Except for when Jesus was here, there may be no
more exciting time to be alive, in my opinion. There is much to do to spread
the gospel to all the nations. I am too old to go into the mission field, but I
am a worker, as are many others, planting the seed of truth in the fields around
us.
As
much as I love and long to be with Jesus, I want to keep sharing the good news
with the unsaved people in my life. So, my whole life is sharing Christ with everyone
I can. It’s not up to me when I will be called home to heaven. The Father in
heaven is in complete control of my future, just as he is with everyone. If he
calls me home tomorrow, I will have gained heaven. If you are not in Christ,
and he in you, you will NOT gain heaven, if you were to die tomorrow. I am
obsessed with sharing this gospel with everyone, and that’s living for Christ
for me.
If
I’m called home to heaven to be with Christ, I’m praying that those I care
about will hear the truth from someone else. I want to live as long as is
necessary to do the work Christ has set before me. If that means I live on this
earth until I’m ninety-five, so be it. As long as I’m a fruit producing
follower of Jesus, and still sharing his gospel, I’m good with it. I pray God
will call me home or Christ’s returns before I become unproductive.
Without sounding like I have some kind of death wish,
which I DO NOT, I still long for the day when I can be with Jesus. Of course,
if I am with Jesus, I am NOT dead. In fact, I will be more alive on that day
than I have ever been in this life. I remember vividly every moment of the days
my children were born. I never felt more alive than I did on those days. However,
as much as I love each of my children, I will be so much more alive when I’m
standing [or floating, or kneeling, or whatever happens in heaven] before Christ.
If it were to happen today, I would be ecstatic beyond belief.
Abba, Father, you are the giver of life. You alone are the Master of the universe and you control all with the breath of your mouth. Father, while we are alive in these fleshly bodies, give us the courage to always do your will. Give us a heart for the unsaved, Lord. Never let us prejudge and think a person cannot be saved. You save whom you will save. Help us to confidently share the good news about Jesus with everyone we meet, without presupposing if they will be saved. You love every person who has ever lived. No one is too BAD to be saved by your grace. We thank you for this life of service we live however, when it’s our time to meet you face to face, dear Lord, we only consider that to our great advantage. You can call our souls home to you at any time. We want only to complete the tasks you have set before us but everything must come to an end. To everything a season. When it’s our time to go, give us peace of mind as we approach that moment. What a glorious day it will be when we step into eternity to continue our service to you, Father. It’s in your Son, Jesus’, most precious name, we pray. Amen!
