Are You Going to Live Forever

The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
(1 John 2:17)

For years, secular science has been working on ways to extend the human life span. Occasionally they’ll claim they will be able to make us live several hundred years, if not forever. However, the way this world is, I don’t think I’d want to? This world is dying, and I don’t mean the planet. It’s not coming to an end by the hand of man in some kind of environmental disaster. Although, it is coming to an end because of man’s sin. This world is passing away but it’s going to be replaced with something eternal.
Most of my adult life I was on the wrong side of this reckoning. My lusts and desires drove me. If the lifestyle I was living hadn’t ended, I would not survive the coming holocaust. Of course, I don’t know when this world will end. No one on earth knows that, but it is coming. Even though I may pass from this physical life before the end of this world comes, I will live again because I am doing the will of the Father. The vast majority of the people of this world have to interest in what the will of God is, let alone doing his will. The sad truth is, they will be destroyed right along with the world they love so much.
The spiritual health and soul of mankind is dying. Earthly governments are filled graft and corruption, the greed and avarice. The poor people of every nation are consumed with fear and anxiety from the wars, pestilence, disease and basic survival. The ultra-rich of the world have no concern for the poor. They are consumed with seeking pleasures and accumulating more and more wealth. They are driven by their lusts, but they will not survive the coming death of this world.
Our whole way of life is all going to pass away when Jesus returns. In other words, it will be God’s Wrath that puts an end to the evil of this world. There is only one way to escape the fate this world will suffer and that is to turn your life over to Jesus. Escape will not be found in Allah, Buddha, Yoga, money, power, sex, alcohol or drugs. You will only be saved by calling on the name of Jesus. If you put your trust in the Son of God and do the will of the Father, you will live forever.

You, Heavenly Father, are a merciful and loving God. You have forgiven our sins even though we are not worthy of your grace. It would be impossible for us to ever repay or thank you enough for the gift of salvation. Even so, Lord, give us grateful hearts that we will always give you the honor and glory. We believe your final judgment is coming to this world. It will be far, far worse at that time than any natural or man-made disaster this world has ever seen. Trials and tribulation have always been a part of our lives, but your Wrath being poured out on this world will be so much more terrifying and horrible. We ask you to protect your Church from this coming calamity. Father we know you are the master of our lives and have a plan and purpose for us. Without your help, we occasionally fall back into our old sinful behaviors. Help us to live every day in your will, that we may escape your Wrath. Our hope for an eternity spent in your presence, rests in you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
