Never Be Ashamed

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
(Romans 1:16)

As a Christian I have the greatest news most of the world doesn’t believe and couldn’t care less about. I am often afraid to share it because I fear the ridicule and taunting that often comes from those who are lost. However, I know Jesus stands with me through the Holy Spirit to give me strength. If I let him he will be my voice through the scriptures he gave us. I don’t have to be ashamed of my faith. It has brought me peace when the world around me seems to be falling apart.
Whether you believe it or not, everyone has a soul. Your soul and mine are going to spend eternity somewhere. There are only two places where a soul can end up. The first is a place of endless reward, beyond description in its beauty and wonder, because the Father is there in heaven. The second is equally indescribable but not for its beauty, but for its terrifying torment. It’s a place of extreme horror and anguish. A place of endless punishment. It’s a place created for Satan and his fallen angels, not for humans. We end up there because of our refusal to submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
What power can a few books of the Bible have over my place in eternity? It has the power to save me and every soul on earth. My final destination is up to me! I choose whether I’m going to heaven or hell because I’m the one who chooses to either believe the truth of Jesus Christ or believe the world. By the power of the gospel my place in heaven is secure. I don’t have to sit around and wonder what happens after I die because I know. As surely as the sky is blue, the blood of Jesus has washed me clean and I will spend eternity with him.
We should never be embarrassed to tell anyone about our Savior, God and King and why he was willing to die for each and every one of us. If anyone reading this does not know Jesus as their savior and friend, then reach out to him in prayer. Even if you are skeptical that any of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, seek the truth with an honest heart you will find it. Jesus is the truth and he is standing at the door to your heart. He wants to come in and save you, but he waits to be invited in.

Heavenly Father, we are in awe of how you have guided history to accomplish your will. Part of that guidance came to us in the form of your inspired Word. It is replete with the history of creation and the lives of your chosen people. We can also look to it for your prophetic word. It assures us of your awesome power and omniscience. The only way you could know the future is if you are already there. Finally, it’s there where we learn about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Simply for those reasons, we should have confidence to share the gospel you have given us. If we withhold the truth of Jesus Christ from and unsaved family member or a friend, and they die, they will go to hell for an eternity. Give us boldness, Lord, to be a witness of your love for the lost souls of the world. Never let us minimize the story of how we finally came to know the truth. It’s that story that will open the door to begin their journey to come to know who you are. Father we love you and want everyone we know to be in heaven with you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
