God Bless America!


Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; the people he chose for his inheritance.
(Psalm 33:12)

I do believe we are, or at least, we were a blessed nation. We are not God’s chosen people like Israel was, but blessed just the same. God blessed the founders of this country with creating the greatest nation the world has ever seen. Even though we have never been close to becoming a perfect nation, Americans can be the world’s kindest and most generous people. However, the changes I've seen this country go through in my lifetime are appalling to me. I’m not trying to make a political statement; only reflecting on what I see happening to the nation I love.
It’s hard to say exactly when it started or what it started with, only that the pace has truly picked up in the last few years. This country was founded on Judeo/Christian principles by Christian men who, even though they were flawed, were trying their best to create a kind of country that had never existed before. Yes, in order to keep the fragile young country intact, they allowed slavery to continue, it was going to be the thorn needing to be extracted soon.
Our Founding Fathers would regularly seek the Lord’s counsel in prayer and supplications. They often publicly gave thanks to God for the blessings God had bestowed on this nation. Today however, our leaders have turned from looking to our Heavenly Father for guidance. Instead they rely on their own intellectual strengths which will always fall way short. They should be seeking his direction on all matters, important or mundane.
Our leaders no longer legislate for the good of their constituents but are more concerned with lining their pockets and getting re-elected. Regardless of which political party they belong to, corruption is the name of the game in Washington, DC. We are reaping our just reward for turning our backs on God and until we, as a nation, repent and turn from our transgressions, it will only get worse. I pray for America. I pray for our leaders. I pray for our people and I hope you do too! God bless America!




Father God, you are holy, full of mercy and grace. How can we have any other God but you? You blessed our Founding Fathers with the wisdom needed to bring this nation into existence. Of course, they didn’t create the perfect nation because they were imperfect men, but they did the best they were capable of. However, our nation has since fallen far from you, Lord. You are our God, but we haven’t been acting like it lately. We chase after the gods of money, pleasure and selfish desires. We have given ourselves over to the devil who has led us down the road to abortion, adultery, and divorce. Father we beg for forgiveness for the sins or our nation. Please soften the hearts of the unbelievers and give us the words to say that will lead them to a relationship with you. We pray for our leaders to seek your face, so the decisions they make will be within your will. We pray also for protection for our military men and women and for the safety of our nation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!

Preach the Word

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. (2 Timothy 4:2) Meditation I used to think it was only the pastors job to preach the Word of God. I’m not a preacher, so it didn’t occur to me to share the gospel. However, this verse does not say, “Preachers, preach the word.” Whether you realize it or not, we are all ministers of the gospel. We have been charged with the awesome task of telling everyone about Jesus and why he went to the cross. When Jesus gave the “Great Commission,” to make disciples of all nations; he wasn’t just talking to his own disciples. He was speaking to every one of us. Think About Heavenly Things

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8) Why have I spent so much time filling my mind with garbage? I’ve read unclean jokes or off-color cartoons and shared them on social media. I used to go to movies or watch things on television that are detestable to the Lord and thought nothing of it. My baser instincts are to gravitate toward the impure offerings of our entertainment industry.
