Who Do You Fear

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
(Romans 8:31)

Life is filled with so many trials and tribulations it’s not always easy to remain calm. Sometimes, it feels like it’s raining trouble, and no one cares but me. However, I know who is in control. He has sustained me through so many challenges, I couldn’t name them all. He holds the whole universe together, but even the vastness of the universe does not keep him from standing with me through the tests of life. I know there are many spiritual powers more powerful and dangerous than I am, but the one who protects me holds all the power.
The whole world today is filled with violence and crime. This society is more concerned with their own pleasure than what is right and true. Everything that was once evil or bad is now celebrated and practiced in the open. Nothing is prohibited anymore. As a Christian, I try to witness for Christ and show his truth and love, but I am mostly ignored by people who know me and hated by those who don’t. That doesn’t give me an excuse to quit because Jesus was both ignored and hated too.
The Christians in other parts of the world, who face death because of their faith on a daily basis, have my deepest respect and prayers. The persecution they face makes us seem like whining children. We complain about not being able to pray in schools, but no one is injured or killed when they try. In some countries, they could be executed on the spot for doing just that. I try, in my prayers, to remember my Christian brothers and sisters in the persecuted Church. I pray that they rely on Christ to give them strength, and to persevere to the end.
God sees all that’s happening to me as an individual and the believers in the world as a whole. He knows what’s going to happen and he will use it to accomplish his will. While some, including me or someone I love, may be slain in some future persecution, I know God will save our souls. Satan and his fallen angels have no power over God. They were created by God just like we are. I don’t fear what any demon influenced person might do to me because I know who protects my soul. What is there to fear, therefore? He is All-Mighty God!

Heavenly Father, you are the most powerful being in the universe. We have no one to fear when we abide in you. If we are focused on Jesus Christ, the author of our strength, our future is secure. However, if we falter, loosing our focus, and backslide into our old behaviors, we risk the devil’s onslaught. You are like a fortress we take refuge in when the devil is throwing slings and arrows at us. When hatred and persecution come our way, help us find sanctuary in the bosom of your love. We bow to your will, Lord, knowing that to live, is to live for Christ, and to die is gain, because we will be with you. Hold tight to our spirits in the event of our demise and restore us to new immortal bodies at the rapture or resurrection. We love you with our whole being, Lord God, because we know there is nothing to fear. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen!
