If You Knock, He'll Open

“I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."
(Luke 11:9-10)

There is no way I can save myself, but if I ask Jesus to save me, he will. Before I gave my life to Jesus, I went from one belief to another, looking for some deeper meaning to my life. Because of the rebellion in my heart, I wouldn’t even consider that I needed Christ. When I finally reached one of the lowest points in my life, Jesus was there to help me pick up the pieces.
Once I honestly searched, through prayer and studying the scriptures, Jesus revealed himself to me through the pages of the Bible. He loves me and wants me to love him, but I have to give my real and honest submission to his lordship over my life. It had to be my willingness to repent from the way I had been living and turn to the love and truth that Jesus offers. I didn’t have to clean up my life before he would accept me, he loved me just the way I was, but then he changed me and made me better.
Since then I have experienced many instances of God’s provision. I seek him all the time for my needs, and he is always faithful. Of course, I don’t ask him for any material things. He’s not my ‘sugar daddy’ whose there to satisfy my every whim and worldly desire. He has given me a whole new life, and a new heart to serve others, instead of my own selfishness. Through Christ, I have learned how to give of myself but, in do so, I have received infinitely more.
If you haven’t done it already, please seek him out today. You haven’t done anything he won’t forgive you for. He will take whatever brokenness that’s going on in your life and make you whole, I promise. You have nothing to lose but your heartache and grief. He doesn’t say you’ll never have any more sorrows or troubles, but he does promise to be right by your side to help you get through them. That’s the promise I can bear witness to.

Heavenly Father, right from the beginning of time, you started the plan for our salvation set in motion. We praise you and thank you for the gift of Jesus Christ. When the sin in our lives has beaten us down, Jesus will be there to redeem us. When we are finally able to see what our sins are doing to us and the ones we love, he cleanses us with his own blood. Not because we deserve it, but because he loves us in a way we don’t even understand. If we look for him with a sincere heart, we will find him right there waiting for us. If we humble ourselves and ask for his forgiveness, he will open our hearts and cast out our past sins. We don’t have to make ourselves presentable before he forgives us. He will come to us just as we are. Thank you, Jesus for rescuing us from the life of sin we’ve made for ourselves. You make our existence beautiful again. You take the darkness from our hearts and fill us with your light. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
