Every Word is True

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
(2 Timothy 3:16)

Every word in the Bible is reliable and true from cover to cover. The words of scripture are breathed out by God, which means it’s infallible. There are no mistakes or inconsistencies. Without giving the human writers, like Moses and Paul, the exact words to write, God inspired them to write what they did. That means that we should pay attention to and do what it says.
The Bible is not just a bunch of cute children’s fables, quaint myths or an endless line of genealogies. It’s a love letter, a guiding light and an instruction manual from God to us. We can’t treat the Bible like we would a buffet line, picking what we like and passing by the rest. Don’t listen to anyone who says the Old Testament is not for Christians. Don’t let anyone tell you we don’t have to believe certain books of the Bible. Every line of scripture is valuable to train us to walk in the path of righteousness and to guide us back when we stray.
The Bible is much more than a religious manuscript. It is a history book, written about the past as well as prophecy; which is just history written in advance. For instance, we learn in Genesis, how we all came into existence; that’s history. In Isaiah, the birth of a Son to a virgin, who would be called Immanuel, was foretold seven hundred years before it happened; that’s prophesy fulfilled. Every single prophecy about the past, has happened. Every single prophecy still in our future, will happen. A full third of the Bible is concerned with prophecy. If God isn’t telling us what’s about to happen in our future, I don’t know what he’s doing.
The rest of scripture tells us exactly how to go from being a lost sinner to be a redeemed saint. It is said, “The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed. The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.” The whole Bible, from beginning to end, points to Jesus as our redeemer. He is readying himself right now to return to judge the world. God loved us enough to give us his only Son to save us and his holy scriptures to help us along to a righteous life. God went to the trouble of doing all of that for me, the least I can do is read and study the scriptures every day.

Father God, you loved us so much, you made a way for us to know who you are. Not only do we know who you are from scripture, but we know who we are. We are not a collection of atoms the came together by accident. We are your purposeful and special creation. We are not just another animal driven by animal instincts. We are created in your image to be set apart from the rest of creation. We are slaves to sin, but we don’t have to be. You have provided a path to salvation. The inspired words of scripture tell us how to find that path. The words of the old covenant foretell the coming savior in great detail. The words of the new covenant describe him and what he did to pay the price for our redemption. Only an omnipresent God is able to write history before it happens. You did that all through the Bible in both Testaments. Some of your prophecies have not come to pass, yet, but we have faith they will be fulfilled in your good time. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
