Don't Be A Fool

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 1:18)

Before I was saved, I thought everything about Christianity was a myth. I didn't believe any of it and I did my best to convince anyone who would listen, there was no God. To me Christians were simpletons and fools who needed a crutch to explain their existence, so they created a god in their own image. I was strong willed and smart enough not to fall for any of that foolishness. At least I thought I was smart.
I followed the secular explanations for our origins, like evolution and the Big Bang. They provided the excuse I needed to turn my back on everything I was taught as a young child. Jesus, if he ever existed at all, was just a good man that some addle-minded people wanted to be like. The Bible was a just book written by men, edited and changed all throughout history to make it look like its prophesies came true.
I thought I knew the truth. I read parts of the Bible, as a young adult, just to prove to myself it wasn’t true. To me, it was all foolishness and read like some lame fairy tale. I was sure God was a made-up construct and therefore, there was no heaven or hell. I would just slip into nothingness when I died. That, of course, meant there was no real consequence for any of my actions. I could do anything I wanted, as long as I didn’t end up in jail.
Then, when I needed him most, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. He was like a wrecking ball knocking down a brick wall that surrounded my hardened heart. Everything changed for me after that. I knew God is real and that his Son, Jesus, died on the cross to pay the price for my sins. If God can change my heart, he can change anyone’s. Now the light of Jesus lights my path and I happily follow him every day! I just wish I hadn’t taken so long to learn the truth.
What I’m doing a terrible job of trying to say is, if your heart is as hard as mine was, and you are thinking like I used to think, why not let the Holy Spirit give your heart a love tap? You’ll never regret it. If you want to know more, ask a Bible believing friend. You can message me or comment below. I’d be glad to help you. God bless you!

Lord God, you hold all the knowledge of the ages. You created the great expanse of the universe and the tiniest of atomic particles with all their complexities with just a few of your mighty thoughts. As unbelievers, we want to believe all things came into existence by accidents in nature and therefore, we don’t have to believe in a supernatural creator. If there was no creator, there was no Adam and Eve, and no fall into sin and death. If there was no fall into sin and death, we don’t need a Savior. In an effort to prove to ourselves all of that is true, we resort to mockery and bullying of anyone who would tell us about the gospel. But of course, all of that is because we don’t want to be subjugated to an all-powerful God. And, truth be told, it take a lot more blind faith to believe in a natural cause than to believe in you, Father. Thank you for breaking through our hardened hearts and showing us the truth. Thank you for your inspired Word that we can learn of your love and grace! Teach us to use the power of your Word to share the good news with the lost people in our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
