Nothing Separates Us
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the
love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 8:38-39)
Meditation
Do you
understand that? For most of my adult life, I didn’t. He loved me but I didn’t
love him. God loves me no matter what my sins are! There is nothing in all
creation that can change that. He proved it when Jesus came to save me and rest
of the world. The Word was God and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, as
it says in the first chapter of the Book of John. God didn’t do that because I’m
such a good person. I’ve been saved about twenty years and I’m still not worthy
of the work Jesus accomplished on the cross. None of us who believe are. However,
even though we are NOT worthy, Jesus willingly shed his blood in an act of
submission to the Father’s will and his love for us.
I was living my
life in total rebellion against God’s love and his plan for my life. In my
youth, I was exposed to enough of who God is to know the difference between
right and wrong, good and evil. However, I stubbornly refused to submit myself
to him even though I knew deep down he was real. I thought my life was happy
with me in control, but eventually my life choices brought me to my knees. As
my life was crumbling down around me, I realized I needed a Savior, so I turned
my life over to Jesus. It was only then I understood God had never stopped
loving me. Nothing I had done in my past, put a barrier between God and me. He
didn’t insist I clean up my life before he could indwell my heart.
As soon as I reached out to God and took hold of the
free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, I was wrapped in his loving arms.
Satan, and his demon horde, has no power over my life since I turned over
lordship to Jesus. He cannot snatch me out of the loving arms of God. Now that
I am surrounded by his love, I am compelled to share with everyone. Whether you
realize it or not there is eternity on the other side of death’s door. You are
going to spend eternity somewhere. There are only two choices, heaven or hell.
You cannot do enough good things to earn your way to heaven. You cannot be a
good enough person on your own to get there! We all need Jesus to save us.
