We Are Redeemed
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His
loving kindness is everlasting. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has
redeemed from the hand of the adversary.
(Psalm 107:1-2)
Meditation
Our
God is good! In fact, he is great! He is the all-powerful Creator of the
universe and yet he still loves each and every one of us individually, without
condition. His goodness and kindness cannot be measured and will never end.
Give thanks to him for your existence. If it weren’t for God, you wouldn’t be
here. Give him thanks for his provision. All you possess comes from God.
Everything from the money in your pocket to the food you eat is provided to you
by God. Give him thanks for his love. You might think you know what love is,
but when compared to God, you are oblivious. Our love for each other comes with
conditions. If you hurt me, I’m not going to love you anymore. Every sin we
commit, deeply hurts God. He loves you so much he will forgive your many sins
by accepting his offer of salvation.
He
could demand we find our own path to righteousness, which is what some false
religions do. Any religion that demands you perform some good deeds before
salvation can occur is false. If they claim you have to keep doing good deeds
to keep your salvation, they are a false faith. No one is able to do enough to
gain or keep their salvation by their own efforts. On our own, we have no hope
for anything but eternal punishment. For the sake of his own glory, he stood
the cross between us and hell. Right up until the moment of his final wrath,
his mercy will be offered to us and not be extinguished. Our first thought for
each day should be to thank God for providing us a way to be reconciled to him.
Shout
to the Lord your undying gratitude. He has snatched you from the hand of the
adversary, Satan, who wants nothing more than to take as many to hell with him as
he can. If God were not good, you wouldn’t stand a chance. He is so good he
sent his only Son to wash away your sins with his own blood. If he didn’t have
boundless mercy, he would leave you to wallow in your sins. The greatest gift
you can ever receive was purchased with the blood of God’s Son on the cross.
The best way to thank God is to tell everyone what he has done for you. Your
salvation experience can go a long way toward helping others come to faith in
God.
Prayer Time
We praise you, Father, for you are great and mighty. We can only be in awe of your power and might. We can only wonder at the strength of your will. Even as mighty as you are, your goodness is without compare. You are so good, you provide us a path to come into your presence, when all we deserve is your condemnation. We thank you for the work already done for us on the cross. Father, we are yours to mold and make into righteous followers of Christ Jesus. Help us to be upright and pure as we follow the plan you have for our lives. Take away the filth that pollutes our hearts and puts separation between you and us. The adversary, that ancient serpent, the father of lies, only wants to keep us separated from a relationship with you. He whispers to our imperfect hearts that we’re not worthy of anything you promise, but we know you love us beyond all measure. Thank you for that love and give us the strength to withstand the devil’s onslaught. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
