How Much Does God Love You
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we
were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his
blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
(Romans 5:8-9)
Anyone
with a knowledge and fear of the Lord, never wants to be an enemy of an
all-powerful God? That’s what I was before being justified by the cleansing
blood of Jesus; I was an enemy of God. The trouble was, I didn’t even know
enough to realize I was his enemy. Before I was saved, I had only the most
rudimentary concept of what and who God was. I thought he was fictional
construct, weak minded people needed to explain why they were here. I thought I
was strong enough not to need a god to me keep going.
Fortunately,
someone thought enough of me to invite me to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. I
finally realized how wretched, poor and sinful my life had been. God could have
left me right where I was, on a path to hell. Instead, God in all his mercy and
grace, who knows the end from the beginning, who knew all my sins before I was
even born, sacrificed his only Son to give me a way back to him. Now, I cannot
be silent. I cannot sit back, basking in my salvation, and not do or say
anything to help bring others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
We
are made sons and daughters of the Almighty, adopted into his family through
the shed blood of Jesus. We are all sinners and deserve to suffer the wrath of
God, however being made acceptable to the Father by the blood of the Son, we
are saved from his wrath. Not only are our sins forgiven but we will escape the
wrath of God Almighty that will come upon his enemies. Then, his wrath will be
followed by an eternity in Hell. Jesus was given to us all, not just a select
few or one race over another. Everyone is welcome in the camp of the Lord.
If
you are reading this and are still his enemy, God wants you on his side. He
doesn’t want anyone to suffer in eternal punishment. He wants you to be with
him in paradise forever. Please, if you don’t know Jesus yet, find out who he
is. You can find him in the scriptures. You can talk to him in prayer. Repent
of your sinfulness and be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ! You’ll
never regret your decision.
Heavenly Father, you are the mightiest, the greatest, the holiest, and the kindest. In fact, there are not enough superlatives in our language to fully describe your attributes. Every word we can utter to define who you are, withers in the brightness of your glory, Lord. Jesus came to this earth to be our Savior. We thank you, Father for that sacrifice and for your undying love for us. The blood of Jesus has cleansed us from all our iniquities, and there is no further need to fear death. However, we need the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide us in our daily walk. Thank you, Lord, for thinking us worthy of your love and saving grace. Father we ask you to break through the hardened stony hearts of our friends and loved ones who do not know you. Let them hear that still, small voice, calling them to repentance and to a right relationship with you, Father. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen!
